Why should I consider taking an internship ?

It is a mandatory part of MBA study program , and it must take place during the third semester of the program. Moreover , internships are an excellent way to apply ideas, concepts, theories and principles acquired in an academic program to the professional world. They allow you to establish and address personal and professional development goals; develop necessary employment skills and strategies; and identify your professional strengths and limitations while learning the structure and operation of a German organization.   

How do I get placed into an internship ?

Students are encouraged to find by themselves opportunities and get directly in touch with the interesting companies. However the department will support the search for a placement.

How long will the internship last ?

The internship lasts about 20 weeks.

Will I earn a credit  for this internships ?

After the successful completion of the internship and the presentation on the accomplished work, the students will get 4 credits.

Do I get paid?

It depends on the agreement with the company. But as a rule MBA students can expect a remuneration for their work.

Do I need to know a foreign language?

In order to get placed in the German companies the students need to be proficient in German besides English. Eventually other eligibility requirements may include the knowledge of other foreign languages. 

Where will I live?

As a rule the students are responsible for finding accommodation in the area where the internship will take place. Living arrangements can be a variety of accommodations such as residence halls, home stays or apartment housing. Some companies may offer housing for the interns or help them finding a housing option. 

How do I apply?

Send the application letter to the interested companies. Check also whether there are special application procedures for a specific company. As a rule as part of your application, you may be asked to submit a resume.

Do I need specific documents for starting the internship ?

In order to start working as an intern in a company you need to have a specific contract. This contract must be signed by the company where you are going to work, by the person in charge for internships of the department and by the student himself. Further you need the training program and the sample of the certificate for your internship.

Do I need to accomplish a paper on the internship ?

Yes, after the internship period, the students are required to submit a report on the accomplished duties and tasks within the company. The volume of the paper should be of 15-20 pages.
