For admission to this consecutive study programme a first academic degree above average (total grade 2.5 or better, according to German grading system) is required, i.e. a diploma or bachelor degree in computer science or a related science. This comprises electrical engineering and automotive technology, but also business computer science, information engineering or applied computer science.

In addition, qualified applicants from business study programs like business studies or economics with sufficient computer science knowledge can be admitted to ITEA.

Applicants with bachelor degrees who have earned less than 210 ETCS have to attend additional qualification programs at Coburg University of Applied Sciences. The exact qualification requirements are determined in an individual application procedure. Usually the one semester practical experience in a company is missing. You can make up for the practical semester under guidance of Coburg University of Applied Sciences, too.

Fluent knowledge of German is a formal admission requirement since the lectures and exams are mostly offered in German.
