The joy of discovery and learning

Normally only adults sit in Coburg University of Applied Sciences and learn something here. At our KinderUni, you are the student. Then you sit in the lecture hall, learn exciting things and ask the professors questions. Come with us on a journey of discovery! If you are between 8 and 12 years old, you can take part. The KinderUni at Coburg University of Applied Sciences has space for 260 children!

Aim of the KinderUni

The aim of the KinderUni is to convey the joy of discovery and learning to children and thus strengthen their awareness that knowledge can also be fun. The aim is to raise awareness of university as an option for their own future at an early age, especially for children from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. To this end, the children are allowed to get a real taste of university life and participate in scientific topics. In the KinderUni lectures, professors explain questions from everyday life in a playful and child-friendly way with the help of modern science. Here the little listeners can be amazed at some things. After all, the KinderUni aims to show how much fun it is to explore the mysteries of this world.

Lectures on September 28, 2024

Digging a deep hole with a shovel is laborious and time-consuming. Many people have certainly experienced this themselves. For the construction of underground parking garages, pile foundations for high-rise buildings or tunnels, for example, a lot of soil has to be excavated and moved. To make civil engineering work easier and faster, people have developed machines. What does this development in civil engineering look like? How did people work in the past and what does the work look like today? We explore the following questions: Why does the eagle see so well? Why are cats' pupils not round? Why do cats have eyes on their school backpacks? How do insects' eyes work and can they see heat? We can only concentrate where it is comfortable. In a live experiment, you can try out whether you are more of a frostbite or a hot-blooded person. We will also check whether students have good learning conditions in the university lecture hall and you will find out how you can check this in every classroom. There are certainly moments when you sometimes find it difficult to find the right words. In addition to our thoughts, our feelings also play a major role here. We take a look at what can help you to cope confidently in such difficult situations so that both you and the other person feel good.

During the KinderUni, we may take film and/or photo recordings. We use these for press and public relations work for the Children's University and on our website. If you or your parents do not want your picture to be taken, you can indicate this when you register. We will mark your wristbands accordingly when we issue your ID card.

If you're asking yourself that question, the Coburg Study Fair—a joint event organized by the Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the Bamberg-Coburg Employment Agency—is the place for you! Discover what's right for you! Still not sure which direction to take? Then stop by the Employment Agency’s Career Counseling booth at the fair and take the Study Choice Check! It’ll give you some initial ideas about which fields of study and career paths might be a good fit for you. You can then learn more about them at the booths and during our lecture series. Find out what you can study and where! Numerous colleges and universities, as well as companies and institutions, will provide information at their booths about degree programs and dual study options.

Find out what your career might look like after you graduate! Design, medicine, computer science, and much more: Professionals will share insights into their day-to-day work. Attend up to three different presentations and learn from people with professional experience about what comes next after college! We’ll also explain in introductory sessions what a dual study program entails, how to apply and enroll at universities and colleges, and what you need to know about financing your education.

Your Visit to the Trade Show Admission to the Coburg College Fair is free. No registration is required. Just stop by—and feel free to bring your parents, siblings, or friends! On the day of the event, you can park for free in the parking garage on the Friedrich-Streib Campus. Access to Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts is only possible via Friedrich-Streib-Straße. The route to the building/exhibition grounds will be clearly marked. The campus is also within easy walking distance of Coburg’s main train station. Learn more here. If you need a certificate confirming your attendance at the fair, you can pick one up on the day of the fair at the Employment Agency’s career counseling booth. Campus Vibe and Online Events

During the Open House Days, you can get to know Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts and our bachelor’s degree programs —with information about the programs, a feel for the campus, and the chance to meet professors and students! We’re offering both in-person and online programs. The open house days will take place during the Bavarian/Thuringian Easter break.

March 31, 2027, in the morning at the Design Campus and online in the late afternoon.
April 1, 2027, at the Friedrich Streib Campus or at the Kronach location on the Lucas Cranach Campus, and online in the late afternoon.

How to organize your taster days

Before the open house days, learn the basics about college and academic orientation —that way, you’ll better understand everything you learn about your desired degree program during the open house days. We’ve put together several videos for you below. Next, check out which bachelor’s degree programs we offer and read through the information on the program pages. So, which degree program or field of study sounds the most exciting? For that one, we recommend participating in the on-site program, which takes place on Wednesday or Thursday morning. Of course, you can also get a taste of other degree programs or fields of study on-site during the second morning. But please note: We have several locations—be sure to check the venue for each program ! Do you just want to participate in the open house days online? Or would you like to learn more about other degree programs or fields of study? No problem: On both open house days, live online events will take place starting at 4:00 p.m.: There will be a campus tour, presentations on degree programs and academic fields, and a Q&A session on “Applying to and Studying at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts.” Of course, you can also ask your questions online! You can easily find the access links in the respective detailed programs, which will be published starting in March 2027.

City tour

Für alle, die Coburg noch nicht kennen, haben wir eine Stadtführung organisiert. Sie startet sowohl am Mittwoch, den 31.03.2027, als auch am Donnerstag, den 01.04.2027 jeweils um 14:30 Uhr in der Coburger Innenstadt. Die Anzahl der Plätze ist begrenzt. Wer sich für die Stadtführung anmelden möchte, schickt bitte eine E-Mail an studienberatung@hs-coburg.de. Bitte gebt dabei an, mit wie vielen Personen ihr an der Führung teilnehmen wollt.
