‣ Your studies, your life

Forget overloaded timetables and the constant struggle between studies, job and free time as in conventional degree programs. Our concept is different:

📌 Focus instead of chaos: In three-week modules, you dive deep into a topic – without distraction.

🕒 Reliable lecture times: Three mornings a week are reserved for lectures – the rest of the time is yours! Work, hobbies, relax? The choice is yours.

🎯 Continuous assessment: Each module concludes with a project or practical assignment – no exam phases, no bulimic learning. And vacations remain vacations.

Ahoy hoi! I’m Christian, your degree program coordinator for Information Systems 2.0🫰

Of course, I’m exaggerating a little when I say that nothing works here without me – but I’m definitely responsible for the good atmosphere and personal support! As a humanities and cultural scientist among the geeks and nerds, I know that technology is only as good as the people who use it.

That is why we focus on individual development. We know that the combination of professional expertise and personal growth is the key to successful solutions for the future.

This view has motivated us to create Information Systems 2.0. Convince yourself of our passion for digital innovation – for example, when I open our MakerSpace in Kronach for you with my RFID chip implanted in my hand 🤙

Prof. Dr. Johannes Stübinger

A person with glasses is smiling widely, wearing a black turtleneck sweater against a plain background, perhaps reflecting the classic style of Hochschule Coburg.

Hey guys! 👋 I’m Johannes, your program director for Information Systems 2.0.

I actually come from a math background – sounds nerdy? Don’t worry, we don’t spend hours on derivatives, integrals or equations here. In my modules, it’s all a means to an end – we solve real practical problems with artificial intelligence and data science. Sounds better, doesn’t it?

Never programmed before? No problem! 80% of first-year students start like this. You learn the basics using company projects, and later we use smart tools like ChatGPT and co. to get the most out of it.

Do you have any questions? Just come to my lecture or write to me directly! I look forward to it.

P.S. Don’t bother with “Prof. Dr. Stübinger”, okay? Mutual respect has nothing to do with titles. Just call me Johannes! 😎

FAQ

FAQ

How programming-heavy is the course?

Programming is part of the degree program, but it’s not an end in itself.
You’ll learn programming in a practical way and without any prior knowledge, so you can understand and implement digital solutions—not just to become a software developer.

A screenshot from the chat shows two messages in German on the topics of programming and economics. Johannes shares a “key takeaway from yesterday,” and Marcel replies, “The basics of programming aren’t as hard as I thought.” Two users react with thumbs-up emojis. at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts

This “aha” moment comes relatively early for everyone :)

How much math is really involved?

The math component is application-oriented.

Mathematics is used wherever it makes sense for data, IT, and business. No highly theoretical college-level math—just understanding and application.

In short: If you know how to use the rule of three, then you’re qualified:)

How does Business Informatics 2.0 differ from conventional WI?

× Broad understanding rather than niche knowledge: The focus is less on in-depth, specialized knowledge of individual technologies and more on a broad understanding of digital technologies, innovative methods, and their application within the company.

× No traditional IT focus: While programming is part of the role, it is no more central to it than traditional ERP or SAP areas of focus.

× Project- and practice-oriented: The focus is not on rote memorization, but on the targeted development of skills for the digital workplace.

× Sequential study: You focus on one topic at a time and immediately apply what you’ve learned to specific projects.

× Feedback-driven improvement: The program is continuously evolving as student experiences and feedback are actively incorporated into its design.

× Focus on you: You—your learning journey, your ideas, and your personal development—are at the center of it all.

How does the dual study program work? How do I find my practical company?

Here are three options:

Combined Degree Program:
You combine your bachelor’s degree program with an IHK vocational training program—two degrees in one go.

A degree program with an in-depth practical component:
You focus on your bachelor’s degree, but spend your breaks between semesters and your internship semester working full-time at the company.

Dual Degree Program:
If you want to take your knowledge to the next level in addition to gaining in-depth practical experience, then a dual degree program is the right path for you. Here, you’ll tackle real-world business challenges through modules, culminating in your bachelor’s thesis.

Your Path to Becoming a Practice Partner at
You’ll find your own practice placement on your own, just like in a regular job search. We’ll support you with our network—just reach out to us.

And don’t worry,
—you don’t have to have your own business when you start college; you can easily start out “normally” at first and then switch to the dual-track program later.
