Stay fit at home too

It is also possible to keep fit within your own four walls.
This is precisely the subject of a campaign in the Integrative Health Promotion course: the students have made videos for children and young people.
After all, you can keep fit at home with very simple means.
Just watch and join in.

About the project

Professor Dr. Michaela Axt-Gadermann on the idea behind the project: “The current corona crisis presents us all with special challenges.
We lecturers at Coburg University of Applied Sciences are doing everything we can to continue teaching our students as well as possible, even though face-to-face teaching is currently not possible.
Teaching is therefore taking place online in many cases: By email, videos, chats, via Skype or with the help of literature recommendations and scripts.
This initially takes some getting used to for both students and lecturers.
Converting existing teaching content or designing new formats is sometimes time-consuming for lecturers and requires a high degree of initiative from students, as well as the courage to embrace something new.

But there are also numerous hurdles to overcome at the moment for everyone else who has had to stay within their own four walls for days, who has to reconcile working from home with childcare or who is worried about their personal or professional future.

In the “Integrative Health Promotion” (IGF) course at the Faculty of Social Work and Health, we are currently trying – where it makes sense – to link some of the teaching with health-promoting offers for the general public and make these available online.

One task for the students in the subject “Movement” was therefore to develop a short sports program for the three target groups “kindergarten children”, “primary school children” or “teenagers”, to instruct them and to film it with a cell phone.
The particular difficulty was that we were unfortunately unable to offer any face-to-face classes in exercise this semester due to the coronavirus crisis.
The students were therefore informed by email and then had to “jump in at the deep end”.
Many students had never led groups in movement before and unfortunately had no opportunity to practise this under supervision.
The students only received help and guidance via email or corresponding scripts and links.
It is therefore very pleasing that so many beautiful and entertaining contributions emerged.

We wish you and your children lots of fun in the IGF fitness studio and hope that we can contribute a little to distraction, cheering up and physical fitness.”
