Application-oriented sensory research

The Institute for Sensor and Actuator Technology (ISAT) works closely with application partners from industry to develop innovative measurement solutions for applications in process engineering, environmental technology, biotechnology and medical technology, automotive and automation technology as well as construction and maintenance.
ISAT has particular expertise in the field of ultrasound technologies and the propagation of so-called guided acoustic waves (GAW) and their metrological application.
ISAT’s research focuses on the simulation-based design, application and further development of ultrasonic technologies as well as optical measurement technology and other measurement methods for the non-invasive measurement of process-relevant variables such as layer formation, flow rate, filling level or material characterization.
In addition to sensor development, ISAT’s research areas also include the application and development of new methods for evaluating complex sensor data.
In the field of actuator technology, ISAT conducts research into influencing electrochemical reactions at interfaces, the removal or coagulation of gas bubbles or the separation of different liquid phases or solid particles in liquids using ultrasound.
Another research area of the institute is the development of microfluidic analysis systems for mobile diagnostics in the fields of environment, chemistry and medicine.
Current information about the institute, current projects and events can be found on the ISAT homepage: http://www.isat-coburg.de
