First semester days

A successful start to your studies

A successful college experience starts with a strong beginning, and that’s exactly what the Freshman Orientation Days are for: Here, you’ll get to know your fellow students and be assigned to a mentoring group. You’ll get your bearings on campus and receive important information to help you get started with your studies. As part of the group, you’ll also work on a small project related to your field of study. Getting off to a good start is best done together—and with a little fun—that’s for sure!

The first semester days are aimed at the following degree programs

  • Automation technology and robotics
  • Automotive technology
  • Business Administration
  • Bioanalytics
  • Electrical and Information Technology
  • Energy Technology and Renewable Energy
  • Computer Science
  • Integrative health promotion
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Technical physics
  • Insurance industry
  • Visual Computing
  • Future technologies

Can’t find your degree program here? You can find information about starting your degree program under ” Getting Started.”

This is about

  • Getting to know fellow students and dividing up the mentoring groups
  • Orientation at the university: What can I find where?
  • Outlook on the study program with processing of a project
  • and of course: fun!

The orientation days for first-semester students are organized in part by students from higher semesters, who use their “insider knowledge” to offer support and provide important tips for getting started in college. This gives you the chance to get essential information right from the start and meet the right people. It’s an opportunity you definitely shouldn’t miss!

Mentoring groups

During the Freshman Orientation Days, students are also assigned to mentoring groups. In your mentoring group, you’ll be supported by students in higher semesters. If you’re unable to attend the Freshman Orientation Days, we’ll assign you to a group. Depending on your degree program, this group will support you through the second semester. There, you’ll receive support, for example, as you get started with your studies.
