Study programs of the Faculty of Social Work

The Faculty of Social Work offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programs with the following specializations:

  • Clinical social work
  • Child and youth welfare
  • Culture, education and theater

Among other things, you will learn basic legal knowledge, scientific and methodological skills as well as skills in social management and the structure and management of
organizations. You also have the opportunity to complete an in-depth accompanying course of study in the areas of "Management in social organizations" or "Person- and experience-centered counseling". Other important topics that you can learn about during your studies include

  • Children's and human rights (e.g. rights to education, housing, health, social security, freedom of expression and freedom of religion),
  • protection against all forms of discrimination (e.g. right-wing extremism, racism, anti-Semitism or sexism).
  • the focus on specific target groups, alliance partners and communities, e.g. people with disabilities or with experiences of flight and migration, people in their diverse expressions of gender identity and sexual orientation, children and young people, adults and the elderly, as well as people in crisis situations or with experiences of violence,
  • the focus on specific approaches and fields of action, e.g. in addiction support, social therapy, "green social work" or crisis and disaster research.

Despite all the diversity, one perspective unites all members of the faculty: "Focus on human dignity".

The Faculty of Social Work is located on the Friedrich Streib Campus. This is where the lecture halls,
seminar and exercise rooms, laboratories and offices are located.
