Self-protection by the authorities
Working together for safe studying and working
Coburg University of Applied Sciences is legally obliged to be able to react to dangerous situations. The legal basis for this is the Directive on Preventive Self-Protection of Public Authorities (RBehS). Based on the directive, there is an obligation to carry out an evacuation exercise once a year.
Hazardous situations can arise from fire, explosion, chemical or biological substances, amok attacks, hostage-taking or bomb threats.
The university has a crisis management team for the Friedrich Streib site (30 people) and the Design campus (12 people).
The teams consist of different functionaries and can be recognized by their different coloured vests. This makes it easier to establish communication with external partners from the police, fire department and rescue services in the event of a dangerous situation.
Meaning of the colored vests
- Blue vests: Crisis team
- Yellow vests: Crisis helpers and crisis helpers
- Red vests: Caretaker
- Green vests: emergency pastoral care workers
The internal crisis team is supplemented by crisis team members from external partners. These are, for example, incident commanders from the police, fire department and rescue services, as well as from the integrated control center (ILS). In the event of an incident, the internal and external staff work together to coordinate the necessary measures.
The crisis workers have the task of accompanying or forcing the evacuation, showing evacuees the way to the assembly point and looking after evacuees at the assembly points. They receive instructions from the crisis team via radio.
The crisis team was set up in 2004 and has successfully carried out evacuation drills since then. Various scenarios have been carried out, such as fogging certain parts of the building.
