Prof. Dr. Stefan Kalkhof
About me
Prof. Dr. Stefan Kalkhof's research interests include the search for biomarkers and the development of diagnostic assays, the toxicological evaluation of chemicals – both with regard to humans and bacteria – and the investigation of wound-healing stimulating implant materials. Using mass spectrometry, it is possible to develop methods that allow proteins and their ligands such as toxins and active substances to be extensively characterized and quantified. Prof. Kalkhof enriches the research focus "Smart Sensing, Automation and Analytics" at Coburg University of Applied Sciences with his expertise in the field of instrumental bioanalytics (GC-MS, LC-MS, AAS, ICP-MS, IR, GPC) as well as in the development of molecular analytical methods. Through his secondary position as head of the "Protein Biomarkers" working group in the "Therapy Validation" department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, he has a direct interface that allows GLP-compliant studies to be carried out (clean room, quality assurance and other large-scale equipment).
