Profile of the degree program
The "Applied Health Sciences" Master's degree program is aimed at you if you want to deepen your knowledge and at the same time apply it directly in practice. You will learn how to plan, implement and further develop health projects in companies, organizations and communities.
At the beginning, you will deepen your knowledge of central theoretical principles and critically examine current issues. Building on this, you will acquire sound methodological skills that will enable you to work in a scientifically sound manner.
As you progress, you will apply your knowledge in practical research projects and gain valuable experience that will optimally prepare you for your future career in the healthcare sector.

Research and practice
The special feature of the Master's degree course in Applied Health Sciences is the combination of academic research and practice-oriented application. It is designed to enable students to apply their conceptual and methodological knowledge directly in interdisciplinary, regional, supra-regional and international projects. This enables students to establish valuable contacts with companies, organizations and research institutions during their studies.
Course content and schedule
The course is divided into three study sections.
1. and 2nd semester
The first and second semesters are about teaching:
- Conceptual competencies
- Methodological competencies
- Transfer skills.
The empirical-scientific know-how is supplemented by the following aspects:
- Historical and socio-political development of health sciences in Germany in international comparison
- current discourses on current health systems in the context of national and international health policy
- Perspectives on global socio-political, environmental and technological challenges
3rd semester
In the third stage of the course, the focus is on writing the Master's thesis. In addition, there are accompanying courses in which further transfer skills are taught. Small group sizes allow for intensive contact with lecturers and students.

Job & Career
Graduates of the Master's degree program in Applied Health Sciences are qualified for responsible and leading positions in various areas of the healthcare sector.
They design health strategies in companies and organizations, for example in occupational health management, human resources or organizational development. In local authorities, they develop and manage health promotion programs for various target groups. They also take on central tasks in social institutions by designing and implementing prevention and rehabilitation measures.
In addition, there are opportunities in science and research, for example in the development, monitoring and evaluation of projects in the field of health promotion.
