Aim of the KinderUni

The aim of the KinderUni is to convey the joy of discovery and learning to children and thus strengthen their awareness that knowledge can also be fun.
The aim is to raise awareness of university as an option for their own future at an early age, especially for children from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
To this end, the children are allowed to get a real taste of university life and participate in scientific topics.
In the KinderUni lectures, professors explain questions from everyday life in a playful and child-friendly way with the help of modern science.
Here the little listeners can be amazed at some things.
After all, the KinderUni aims to show how much fun it is to explore the mysteries of this world.

Why does a mirror swap left and right, but not up and down, and how can this be changed?
How high and how wide does a mirror have to be so that you can see yourself completely or do you simply have to increase the distance to the mirror?
If you want to solve the questions yourself, you should bring a ruler, a pencil and a squared sheet of paper, but above all curiosity.

Embark on an adventure through the fascinating world of light and optics!
Our KinderUni invites you to explore the exciting secrets of physics and uncover their amazing significance in nature.
Together we will explore how animals and plants use light in ingenious ways.
From the question of how animals see the world, to dazzling rainbow colors and the camouflage ability of some creatures – together we will uncover the secrets behind natural phenomena.

In a small hands-on experimental lecture, young and old naturalists discover how differently the properties of chemical substances can be used and changed using the example of carbon dioxide.
We experience the multi-talented carbon dioxide as an exhaust gas, dry ice, sparkling water component, greenhouse gas, acid, fire extinguisher ingredient, fertilizer and salt-forming agent.
We live in increasingly fast-moving times in which we are confronted with new things every day.
There will never be a day in the future when the world develops as slowly as it does today.
But where do we come from?
Which milestones in human history have had a significant influence on us?
We will get an overview together using examples.
