Aim and task of the University Development Unit
The Department of University Development shapes the future-oriented development of the university and supports central strategic university management processes. As an interface between the university management, committees, locations and local partners, the department helps to make well-founded decisions and contributes to the long-term success of the university.
One focus of the department’s work is the development, updating and implementation of the university strategy and profile-building measures. This includes analyzing current trends, challenges and future topics in the university sector as well as managing and supporting strategic development goals. The department prepares the basis for decision-making for the Executive Board, draws up annual reports and statements and coordinates processes that are central to university development.

Future-oriented further development of the university
The department identifies fields of action, develops strategic approaches and supports change processes in order to make the university efficient, innovative and competitive in the long term (e.g. development and strategic support for profile building).
Supporting the university management and committees in strategic decisions
The department advises and supports the university management and university committees by analyzing, designing and implementing university management instruments (e.g. process, profile and concentration, university contract 2023-2027, strategy and development paper 2030).
Developing, updating and supporting the implementation of the university strategy
The department coordinates the strategy processes, agrees relevant objectives and measures across the university and ensures their effective implementation using suitable management and monitoring instruments.
Analysis of trends, challenges and future topics in the higher education sector
The department continuously monitors national and international university developments, assesses opportunities and risks for the university and derives impulses for strategic decisions.
