Laser Lab
Brief description
The laser lab is equipped with a TRUMPF Laser Station 5005, which utilizes a 500 W single-mode fiber laser with high-precision scanner optics. The 25 µm spot size enables fine micro-machining, laser welding, laser cutting, patterning, and precise material modifications. Various shielding gases are available to ensure optimal process quality.
In addition to this industrial laser system, the laboratory is equipped with several educational laser systems, including a He-Ne laser, an Nd:YAG laser, and an SHG unit (fundamentals of lasers, optics, and nonlinear optics). A laser-acoustic setup is used for materials analysis, particularly in the field of hydrogen embrittlement.
Systems for measuring beam quality, power, and energy round out the equipment, along with various oscilloscopes and standard measurement equipment. This makes the laboratory suitable for both hands-on training and research and development work in the fields of photonics and micromaterial processing.
Location: The laser lab is located in room 3-014 on the Friedrich Streib campus.
