From a forward-looking hub for sustainable construction and renovation on the site of the former slaughterhouse, to digital production, and research professorships: The new issue of Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts’s research report shows how research, teaching, and knowledge transfer will interact in 2025—and which projects have been particularly influential in the university’s further development.
Spanning more than 60 pages, the publication provides insight into current research projects, scientific achievements, and the ongoing development of the university’s research profile.
The research year was marked by important milestones: With the approval of funding for the CollaborAItive Construction Campus Coburg (4C) and the launch of inAdditiv—the university’s largest externally funded project to date—key initiatives for the future of research and technology transfer were set in motion. Both projects exemplify interdisciplinary collaboration and close networking with regional partners.
The university’s research performance is also reflected in its key figures: In 2025, a total of 90 externally funded projects were carried out, of which 47 were ongoing and 43 had been completed. Approved third-party funding for research amounted to approximately 6.4 million euros, and the university’s researchers published 323 articles. Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts’s international expertise is demonstrated through presentations at renowned academic conferences and publications in internationally recognized journals.
Among other things, the report highlights the university’s research institutions and research culture, as well as its doctoral programs. It also illustrates how researchers in the key research areas of One Health, Sustainable Mobility and Energy Concepts, and Smart Sensing, Automation, and Analytics are working together to find solutions to current challenges.
